Overview
Description Surrey County Council has created two new Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapy posts for clinicians with skills and experience in autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) as well as leadership skills, to join our innovative and collaborative management team. £36,929.70 per annum (NHS Band 7 equivalent) for 36 hours per week, across 42 weeks of the year. The role is term time, plus an additional 15 days per year. One post is based in SE Surrey from the office at Consort House, 5-7 Queensway, Redhill RH1 1YB and one in NE Surrey from Linden Bridge School, Worcester Park, KT4 7JW (office in Leatherhead). For this role, you will: Hold your own specialist clinical caseload and oversee our SLT service to children with ASD across the SE or NE schools. Have a management role in the NE or SE SLT Team which includes: Working alongside the other Team Leads to support and develop an enthusiastic and friendly team of up to thirty SLTs and SLTAs who work in mainstream and specialist schools across either Reigate & Banstead, Tandridge and Mole Valley, or Spelthorne, Elmbridge, and Epsom & Ewell Joint working with colleagues across other teams in Surrey to ensure the wider team is informed of current research and evidence base, and that clinical practice is of high quality and reflects the research and evidence base Working with management on the operational and strategic development of services to our ASD schools across Surrey Providing second opinions, observation and support, training and shadowing opportunities to colleagues in your clinical area of expertise Clinical supervision and line management to members of the SLT team All therapy staff are provided a laptop and mobile phone to allow flexible working. About the role The School-Aged Speech and Language Therapy Service is part of Surrey County Council's local offer to support the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities of children and young people within mainstream schools and specialist provision. The Service is part of the Vulnerable Learners Team in Surrey Children, Schools and Families Directorate and as such works collaboratively with other teams such as Educational Psychology, Learning and Language Support, REMA and Behaviour Support. The main function and aim of the service is for children and young people in schools with speech, language and communication needs to receive the right support at the right time. This is achieved through assessment and intervention, equipping families and professionals with the skills and resources to work together to help and support children with SLCN. We work with children and young people with EHCPs (Education, Health & Care Plan) and those at SEN (Special Education Needs) support. In order to achieve these aims the service follows the 'balance model', offering universal, targeted and specialist support for families, the school environment, the school workforce, assessment and intervention.
