Contract Type: Fixed Term Hours: 37.5 hours per week We are offering a 12 month fixed position within the Haematology Department. This is an exciting opportunity for an HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist to join our dedicated and friendly team at York Hospital. We require an enthusiastic and motivated team player with previous experience of working in an NHS laboratory environment. You will be experienced in the provision of routine Haematology and Blood Transfusion services and shift working/out of hours service provision. Although the main base will be at York Hospital there may be a requirement to support services at the Scarborough site on occasion if necessary. The post represents an excellent opportunity to develop your knowledge and technical skills and the department has a strong culture of supporting professional training and CPD activities. The Haematology laboratory is well equipped with Sysmex HST, ACL TOP 500s and Grifols Erytra. The laboratory is fully accredited by UKAS and is also an IBMS-approved training laboratory. After satisfactory completion of local induction and work-based training, the successful applicant will then be expected to support the departmental shift system. If you have not already attained an IBMS specialist diploma, you will be fully supported in working to achieve this in order to demonstrate the required level of knowledge and competence for the post of Specialist Biomedical Scientist.
