Job Description
Consultant in Respiratory Medicine York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust The Respiratory Medicine department at York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has recently appointed a new consultant and now has the exciting opportunity to grow even further. We are delighted to be able to invite consultants to apply to work with us within the dynamic Respiratory departments in York and Scarborough. This is an exciting time to join the Respiratory Medicine department which is currently part of a care group wide transformation. There is the opportunity to expand a number of services, including lung cancer, pleural service, asthma, ILD and bronchiectasis as well as increasing general respiratory cover. We therefore welcome applicants with a broad range of sub-specialty interests. We are also excited to explore opportunities in teaching, research and/or quality improvement projects with you. We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic and dynamic individuals who will work well within the team to develop inpatient and outpatient services. In line with service provision discussions there may be scope for additional capacity which will be clarified during the recruitment process to potential candidates. We welcome whole-time, part-time or job share applications and we are committed to supporting flexible job plans and will work with you to mutually agree your activity commitment. Candidates will contribute to the General Medical on-call rota, though in the longer-term, a separate respiratory on-call rota and an on-ward/off-ward working pattern is envisaged. York Hospital is located just minutes away from the historic city centre of York which is home to various restaurants, bars, shops and theatres perfect for all ages. There are many bus routes accessible throughout York and the train station is only a ten minute drive from the hospital with regular services to surrounding areas such as Leeds and the ability to travel to London in under 2 hours. Scarborough is one of the original seaside resorts. The Yorkshire coast has stunning scenery, wildlife and glorious beaches. You can immerse yourself in the history of the town with Scarborough Castle and the Rotunda Museum of geology. There are attractions for all ages including the world class Alpamare Waterpark and the Sky Trail Adventure.
