Job Description
Applications are invited from, dynamic, motivated, reliable and organised Pathology Support Workers, for the senior MLA role within the Clinical Biochemistry laboratory at Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. The successful applicant will provide a vital support role to the department by assisting in laboratory testing and procedures alongside other qualified scientific staff. The work in the department is varied and includes preparing samples for testing, performing some tests, data entry into the laboratory computer and preparing samples to be transported to referral centres. The posts would suit careful and accurate individuals who would work under pressure helping to provide a service that is vital to the diagnosis and treatment of patients in the hospital and surrounding community. The ability to communicate well is essential. IT skills including data input skills are an integral part of the role; previous laboratory is desirable but not essential. Clinical Biochemistry and Immunology is part the Blood Sciences Department within the Central Clinical Services Division. Sections within the Department include Automation, Toxicology, Special Chemistry and Immunology. Frontier Pathology NHS Partnership is the joint pathology service of Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust (BSUH) and Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (SASH) and operates laboratories in the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, East Surrey Hospital, Redhill, the Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath. Major investment is ongoing within the Trust and with the building of the Teaching, Trauma and Tertiary care centre over the next few years, which will reinforce the Trust a key player in South East England.
