The closing date for this post is 12 noon on 30th June 2020 Interviews dates to be confirmed. Applications are sought from Detective Constables, for a unique opportunity to undertake a challenging role in the Economic Crime Unit (ECU), initially based at Nuneaton. Application criteria will be extended to include not only officers who have completed their ICIPD, but also T/DC's who have commenced but not yet concluded their ICIDP program. The main purpose of the role is to conduct financial investigations in support of crime enquiries and to recover assets derived from crime or which are intended for use in crime or criminal conduct. Main Responsibilities: To utilise and comply with the powers of an Financial Investigator as a Constable, within the meaning of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, and other relevant legislation. To include all aspects of asset recovery, such as; obtaining investigative orders, cash detention and forfeiture orders, restraint orders and confiscation orders. To undertake enquiries to produce financial and criminal evidence and intelligence, regarding people suspected, charged or convicted of criminal offences. To support high risk missing person investigations with financial intelligence. To assist and advise investigating officers and where appropriate conduct investigations, regarding those suspected of committing money laundering offences. To foster liaison with other police forces, the Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU), partner agencies, local policing areas and other specialist departments, promoting awareness of the ECU; to encourage intelligence sharing and good working relationships. To undertake all functions associated with the role of a Detective Constable, including; searching, seizures, arrests, witness and suspect interviews, presenting evidence at court, attending case conferences with CPS and other duties commensurate with the role. Experience/Skills: Knowledge: Ideally will have achieved PIP level 2 accredited Detective Status (ICIDP), OR will have completed the CID Course and gathered most of the requisite evidence. (Provided such applicants can realistically expect to get the evidence signed off in an ECU Role). Minimum Tier 2 interview trained. Understanding of the National Intelligence Model (NIM). Able to demonstrate a sound working knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and procedures, i.e. Data Protection, Management of Police Information and Proceeds of Crime Act. Desirable: Accreditation as a Financial Investigator Parts 2 (confiscation & restraint), 5 (cash seizure) and 8 (investigations) of Proceeds of Crime Act 2002. Key Skills: Ability to complete files of evidence and reports, to a high standard, ensuring evidential integrity. Good communication skills and the ability to deal with professionals and agencies from outside the police service. Good Computer Skills. Able to work logically and systematically in order to meet deadlines. Possess a proven track record as an Investigator. Desirable : Experience in financial investigation. Special Conditions : Confirmation of the appointment is subject to qualification to full financial investigation accreditation under Parts 2 (confiscation & restraint), 5 (cash seizure) and 8 (investigations) of Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
