Interview dates to be confirmed The main purpose of the role is to investigate offences of murder, other serious and complex crime to ensure the delivery of effective Major Crime Investigation and Critical Incident Service as directed by the Head of Major Investigation Unit. Main Responsibilities: To complete allocated actions and tasks to a high standard in high profile investigations with limited supervision acting with integrity at all times. To plan and conduct detailed interviews with suspects and witnesses in relation to major, complex and serious crime. To act as the officer in the case by preparing evidential files ensuring that they are completed to a high standard. To develop an excellent working relationship with the Crown Prosecution Service. To undertake any other duties commensurate with the rank as determined by Major Investigation Unit Management. Experience/Skills: Knowledge: PIP2 Accredited. Be familiar and operationally competent with the processes of interviewing witness and the requirements of Achieving Best Evidence. Must have an understanding of MIRSAP (Major Incident Room Standardised Administrative Procedures) and MIM (Murder Investigation Manual). Must have a good working knowledge of Criminal Procedure and Investigation Act 1996. Experience: Must have experience of Major or Serious Crime Investigations. Be a skilled and experienced suspect interviewer. Key Skills: The post holder will be required to complete/have completed the following courses: Trained to CJ103- Carry out specialist interviews with victims and witnesses (Former Tier 3 ABE). Trained to CJ203- Carry out specialist interviews with suspects (Former Tier 3 Advanced Suspect). HOLMES (view only).
