With an annual influx of around four million visitors to the county makes this a particularly diverse and challenging environment for the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit, who deal with around 50 fatal road traffic collisions per year. The Unit team provides a 24 hour cover for the force, in the attendance and evidence gathering at collision and other crime scenes. They also provide full forensic examination of vehicles involved in collisions or those under suspicion of committing other offences. North Yorkshire Police are now seeking applications from suitably qualified Forensic Collision Investigators who are looking for a lateral transfer to join this specialist team. The successful applicant will be a first class communicator and will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of, and recent operational experience in Forensic Collision Investigation and Vehicle Examination, as well as the following compulsory qualifications: * City & Guilds Forensic Collision Investigation / de Montfort CertHE Forensic Road Collision Investigation or higher as per the ACPO Protocol for Forensic Collision and Reconstruction 2013 * BTEC (Higher) Traffic City and Guilds Advanced Vehicle inspection for police officers Examiner (or City and Guilds Advanced Vehicle Inspection for Police Officers) * Police Advanced driving * Competent with Photography It would be advantageous for applicants to possess or be proficient in the use of:- * 3D laser scanning and associated software; Trimble GNSS/S6 Surveying; CAD software, e.g. LSS/RelMo; * Driving Licence Category A, C plus E and D; * Experience with digital and analogue tachographs, analysis of CCTV, Bosch EDR/CDR would also be an advantage. The successful applicant will be part of an "on call" rota and be expected to carry out that function on a regular basis.
