Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist with a passion for Care of the Older Person to join our specialist Medicine for Older Person's therapy team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) as a Static Specialist Physiotherapist. ABOUT THE TEAM The MOP Therapy Team offers specialist services to patients over the age of 80 across 150 beds and prides itself in delivering patient centred, holistic care as part of a dynamic, large and supportive MDT. We aim to promote the independence and quality of life of our patients in the later years of their life. WHAT YOU'LL DO This role offers the opportunity to work on the Enhanced Dementia Care Unit - a unique, specialist ward in our region. We are proud to support the Eat Drink Dress Move initiative at UHS and have won several awards including, 'Most Inspiring Team' at the #endpjparalysis awards and the 'Care of the Older Person' BMJ Award. Our close knit MDT is always striving to be at the forefront of innovation and development and as such, excellent support will be given towards continual learning and professional development. The successful post holder will be responsible for * Assessing and treating patients with complex needs and various clinical presentations * Leading on complex discharge planning with support from Band 7's and the MDT * Supporting the learning and development of Band 2-5 staff and students from the University of Southampton, University of Bournemouth and the University of Winchester * Taking an active part in the respiratory twilight and on-call rota WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR We are therefore looking for the successful candidate to have a broad range of relevant elderly care experience and be respiratory competent. Experience in assessing and treating patients with a range of conditions including falls, Parkinson's Disease, respiratory conditions, Stroke and Dementia is essential. The ability to treat your patients with the utmost care, compassion and dignity is imperative, as well as excellent prioritisation and time management skills..
