Job Description

We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to lead on a portfolio of procurement contracts and projects across Clinical category areas. With a responsibility to manage staff, share best practice and collaborate within the team to identify services that would increase efficiency of service. You'll need to have significant experience of negotiating with suppliers and customers in a large organisation and a track record of achieving significant cost reductions. ABOUT THE TEAM This is a permanent role working 37.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday). The Team has achieved Level 1 accreditation as awarded by the NHS Skills Development Network as part of the Department of Health National Standards of Procurement. The team who are based in Southampton and Basingstoke work together to share knowledge and achieve the best possible outcomes for the two host Trusts. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Work as a senior member of the procurement team participating in the development and implementation of customers' procurement strategies * Pro-active review and development of selected areas of non-pay spend * Responsible for the commercial management of specific category areas * Lead procurement processes by delivering a portfolio of contracts, including managing production of required deliverables and control risk WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR * Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Purchasing & Supply or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge, skills and experience * Significant experience of negotiating with suppliers and customers in a large organisation and a track record of achieving significant cost reductions * Demonstrable experience of running competitive tenders/quotations * Able to use initiative and work independently WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU WPL recognises and rewards staff, as an employee you are our greatest asset. ABOUT OUR TRUST AND SOUTHAMPTON Wessex NHS Procurement Ltd is a newly formed joint venture subsidary of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust and Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. WPL provides end to end Procurement and Supply Chain services, including strategic sourcing, value creation, tendering, contract and inventory management, distribution and materials management in to hospitals in Basingstoke, Winchester, Andover and Southampton. All our hospital locations offer nearby green spaces, local historical attractions and the beaches and National Parks are also right on our doorstep.
