Job Description

The Role Are you passionate about climate change and are interested in engaging with residents, local organisations, and businesses on this topic? Are you an experienced administrator with experience in event organising and relationship building? The purpose of this role is to co-ordinate engagement and partnership activity on climate change for Wandsworth Council, based on the Wandsworth Environment and Sustainability Strategy. This will involve working with local people and partner organisations in Wandsworth to share messages from the Climate Change Strategy and encourage involvement in reaching the Council's climate change targets. The administration around organising public events, seminars, and sharing communications will be a large part of this role. Key skills required for this role include project management, stakeholder engagement, event co-ordination and strong administrative skills. You will need to be confident making arrangements with partners in person, by phone and online. Sometimes you will need to present to groups. This role will be working in the Community and Partnerships Department, and will work closely with colleagues in the Policy team who lead the Wandsworth Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan. The Community and Partnerships team works across Wandsworth borough to engage with residents, voluntary groups and key stakeholders, building relationships and developing strategies to tackle key issues. This is an exciting time to be involved in the climate change work, a high-profile issue. Through this role, you will have good exposure to different departments, including the Policy, Planning, and Engagement teams, build relationships with external residents, voluntary and business organisations, and have the opportunity to work with councillors.
