Description Who are we? Friend MTS are the Emmy award winning leading provider of content protection solutions to the media and entertainment industry. Specialising in video security, we provide integrated technology products and security services to a global client base. That client base includes many of the world's largest pay-tv broadcasters and OTT platforms, as well as content owners ranging from television and movie producers to the world's most prestigious sports leagues and event operators. How could you help? This would likely be your first or second product management role, and you should expect mentoring and support from the existing product management team. If you're a product manager with a technical background in software and/or hardware solutions you could help our teams to establish and deliver a roadmap around products covering a number of emerging and existing products and services helping our clients to protect their valuable video content. What will your job look like? You'll be working to set up and own common product management responsibilities (e.g. roadmaps, backlogs, Scrum, Kanban boards, requirements gathering, feasibility studies, etc) in close liaison with your colleagues in Engineering, Client Services, Professional Services, Operations, Marketing and Sales teams. As part of your general product management responsibilities you'll work within a team of product managers in order to coordinate cross-team communications and deliverables. You'll need to have good customer-facing skills. These customers could be either Friend MTS colleagues or our external customers - our clients. * You will work at the cutting edge of a high growth industry with an opportunity to shape the technical vision of a large cloud-based platform. * You will have the opportunity to work on solutions for some of the biggest and most well known sports and entertainment brands in the world. * Our hardware products are installed in broadcast head-ends worldwide, and our software components are deployed into millions of set-top boxes and streaming video players worldwide. What roles are available? 1 x Product Manager based in our York office. 2 x Product Managers based in our Birmingham office. All roles need to be prepared to travel to any of our UK offices where needed (York, Birmingham and London) with some additional travel for customer or marketing purposes. Key daily tasks involve * Working effectively with engineering colleagues to manage issues, backlogs, Kanban boards and practice Agile and Scrum methodologies - as the 'Product Owner'. * Working with the wider team to gather requirements and facilitate the product lifecycle for your products and services. * Effectively communicating with internal and external customers - establishing ongoing good relationships and answering any questions or concerns. Organise meetings, video and phone conferences to further your product. * Being trusted as a subject matter expert on the product you manage. * Communicating with third parties (e.g. technology vendors, etc.) where your product needs their input. Requirements What you need to bring * Experience in a technical role where software and/or hardware is a key component. * Experience of common Product Management concepts including Agile, Scrum, Kanban and Product Lifecycle. * Excellent written and communication skills, with the ability to document and communicate technical concepts to a sometimes non-technical audience. * High level organisational and resource management skills, and the ability to work to tight deadlines. * Capable of participating in, and driving, meetings and presentations. * Innovative thinker/problem solver with strong critical thinking and analytical skills; ability to present information in a clear, succinct, and compelling way. * A quick learner with a natural ability to absorb technical information. * Experience of coordinating with other teams to achieve a common goal in an efficient and timely manner. * Bachelor's or Master's degree in any field with demonstrated achievement; engineering or computer science disciplines preferred. * A flexible approach to working patterns. Desirable * Experience in a technical role within a broadcast, content delivery, content protection, or similar technological realm within the broadcast and media industry. * An understanding of the current content piracy landscape for digital media. * A working understanding of cloud computing.
