Mail ROLE OVERVIEW Croud is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to work in the context of digital advertising and marketing. Our business continues to grow rapidly, and our industry is evolving. A competitive edge for digital advertisers will increasingly be found in the way that they integrate business and customer data with digital marketing data and advertising platforms. Croud is committed to investing in strategically valuable capabilities, so we're looking for an experienced data engineer to join our Data & Innovation team. Croud is an agency with a unique operating model that combines proprietary technology with in-house talent, and also the resource of a global network of marketing and advertising experts (currently over 2,000 people). Our technology and access to the network is also packaged for client in-house marketing teams in the form of Serpico. We have a large in-house team of developers and user experience experts. The Data & Innovation team designs and delivers advanced technical solutions for Croud's clients. These involve integrating data sources and marketing platforms; and also machine learning for modelling and to provide predicted categorisation and metrics. The end results of our work include enabling new analysis, measurement, metrics for optimisation, audience targeting and campaign management automation. The successful candidate in this role as Senior Data Engineer would report to the Director of Planning & Insight, and would work closely with the team's Data Scientist. He or she would also need to collaborate particularly with one or more of: Croud's Chief Information Officer (CIO), Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and Product Director. The right hire will share Croud's values: * Passion : loving what you do and being driven to excel with each new project * Imagination : meeting challenges creatively and ready to try new ideas * Integrity : accountable and always excellent to one another MAIN ACTIVITIES / DUTIES The role has four key purposes: * To alleviate, by taking on day-to-day data engineering work, acute strain on our current data engineering and data science resource * To provide expert direction and practical guidance for the way the team incorporates data engineering solutions in client projects * To examine Croud's history of delivering advanced and bespoke data services to clients; and to collaborate with Croud's tech team and begin the work of "professionalising" and scaling our ongoing client-facing service offering in this area * Considering our current and future service offering, to collaborate with Croud's Chief Information Officer and begin to introduce the policies and processes to the Data & Innovation team that will minimise information security risk for Croud and its clients Regarding the "professionalism" of the data services currently being delivered from Croud's Data & Innovation team, the potential for efficiency and greater scale, and the information security risk, some things are worth bearing in mind: * No-one in the team is a trained developer * Many of our skills are self-taught * We do not all work in the same way, or with any standards in our dev environments * We do make basic use of git for version control * There is no policy or structure for sharing code across projects * We are conscious of security considerations (and we are all very bright) but there are no policies or procedures in place for information security in our team other than those which apply to Croud employees generally Regarding our plans so far for a data and innovation proposition, these are based on a set of products (some of which have not so far been delivered to clients): * First-party data integration, i.e. processing business or customer data into e.g. GA360, GMP or Facebook * Profit-based Bidding, i.e. enabling profit metrics (rather than revenue) across ad platforms * LTV-modelling and prediction, including integration with GMP, for analysis, audience definitions and bidding strategies * Propensity modelling and prediction, e.g. for improving messaging in remarketing * Our Creative Intelligence capability which uses various machine learning techniques to direct optimum new creative design for display ads * Content categorisation, where we use Machine Learning to interpret and categorise language, in order to produce SEO and content planning insight * Customer data platforms, where we will creating lasting strategic data assets for clients: data warehousing disparate first-party data sets, and making the data available for analysis, modelling and activation in ad platforms REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE The most relevant skills and experience include: * Practical data engineering skills * Python, including client for Google APIs * Google Cloud Platform, including * BigQuery * Cloud Functions * KMS * Pub/Sub * Scheduler * Storage * Data fusion * Dataflow * Dataprep * Experience with Azure and AWS would be beneficial * Google Marketing Platform and its APIs, incl
