Job Description

**Role Summary:** The role will act as M&D's domain expert on substation and energy system architecture, device integration, data flows & communications. They will be responsible for developing a holistic vision for M&D customer solutions, working across product management and engineering teams to help shape our future technology roadmap. They will also work across the Product Management team and with other functions to coordinate Multi Generation Product Planning, NPI planning & end-end NPI execution. **Essential Responsibilities:** + Act as M&D's resident substation domain expert. advising Product Management & Engineering teams on substations as regards device integration, data flows & communications, including the future evolutions of substation architectures across T&D & Industrials + Work with colleagues in M&D and from across the wider Grid Automation business to explore opportunities for cross PL substation device & intelligence synergies, which can broaden our M&D offerings by achieving specific customer outcomes in the areas of asset performance and lifecycle management (multi-platform code re-use, visualizations, communications, virtualization, etc) + Coordinate the end-end plan and report current status for each of our NPI developments and their commercial release activities, working closely with the Product Managers and Engineering Program Managers who lead those NPIs, as well as across the wider business functions in supply chain, service and finance + Coordinate with the M&D Product Managers, Product Line Leader and Technology Leader for the development and ongoing management of our core technology stack and 3-5yr Multi-Generational Product Plans (MGPPs). This includes developing/sourcing and owning standardized tools/processes for MGPPs + Participate in new space M&D market opportunity evaluations, Voice Of Customer (VOC) sessions and product requirements gathering, with particular initial focus on the Distribution and Renewable markets + Contribute to yearly market assessment and business planning cycles + Identify and articulate relevant technology trends competitor threats. Predict potential impact on our business and industry + Collect and consolidate customer challenges and requirements relating to new technology and solution offerings + Incubate the application of new technologies through research and proof of concept use cases + Attend Industry and customer events to present and promote GE vision, shape the industry and maintain GE technical leadership position **Qualifications/Requirements:** + Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college, with minimum significant experience in utility and/or industrial power system applications in the areas of engineering, technology innovation and/or product management or equivalent knowledge or experience + Alternatively, a bachelor's degree in another engineering discipline, with minimum significant experience in utility and/or industrial power system applications in the areas of engineering, technology innovation and/or product management or equivalent knowledge or experience + Strong knowledge of Power System and Substation Control & Protection Applications and Architectures for the Generation, Transmission, Distribution and Industrial segments + Significant customer facing experience + Ability to work effectively across functions, with a ability to motivate, coach & inspire others + Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills. Customer focused, enthusiastic and proactive + Familiarity with computing technology, cyber security, and communication protocols as IEC61850, IEC 103, Modbus, DNP3.0, TCP/IP, Ethernet + Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20-25% of the timeApplications from job seekers who require sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. For further information please visit the UK Border Agency website **Desired Characteristics:** + Master's / PHD in relevant engineering discipline and/or MBA or equivalent knowledge or experience + Past experience in the area of Monitoring & Diagnostics for electrical substation assets and/or in the wider power systems value chain + Previous experience in product management practices and activities, together with commercial customer knowledge and established relationships. Can demonstrate strong commercial awareness combined with excellent technical expertise + Demonstrated strategic awareness combined with tactical implementation capability. Strong analytical skills with ability to identify and explain critical issues. + Proven past experience in handling multiple projects simultaneously, with autonomy, proactiveness
