Overview
Are you an experienced HR Assistant? Would you like to work for the Public Sector? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR Assistant to work for the Public Sector in Tiverton. Job title: Human Resources Assistant Location: Tiverton Working hours: Monday - Friday, 37h p/w Pay: £11 p/h Start: 2nd of March 2020 End: 31st of May 2020 - it may be extended. Acorn is currently recruiting for an experienced HR Assistant to join the public sector with experience of delivering HR advice and support across the full spectrum of people management areas, you will also need to be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and application of employment law, policy and best practice, and an ability to tailor your approach to meet business needs. Key activities: Be the first point of contact for advice and / or queries from staff and members of the public, both via telephone and face to face, on HR policies, practices and procedures. Undertake all administration duties associated with recruitment including liaising with and advising recruiting managers, obtaining the necessary approvals to fill vacancies, placing advertisements, preparing invite letters and associated documentation, liaising with applicants, obtaining references, checking eligibility to work in the UK and collation of data for monitoring purposes. To provide support and assistance to the HR Business Partners and Group Manager of HR. Be responsible for the maintenance and administration of the fixed term contract, probation / appointment review and redeployment processes, including liaison with HR Business Partners, managers and employees as appropriate. Writing and issuing Written Statement of Particulars, offer letters and variations to contracts, ensuring they are accurate and provided within required timeframe. Work closely with other HR colleagues to ensure consistency of practice and to provide basic training for new members of staff. Skills required: CIPD Diploma in Human Resources Practice (Foundation) Level 3 or a willingness to study. NVQ level 3 in Principles of Business Administration or equivalent (willingness to study). Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet and Outlook. Broad knowledge of Employment Law. Knowledge of recruitment practice / discrimination legislation. Experience of maintenance and interrogation of database's and spreadsheets. Able to prioritise / organise workload in line with specified timescales. Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team. Desirable: Local Government experience.
