NEWTAX MANAGER OPPORTUNITY FOR FTSE 100 LIFE & INSURANCE COMPANY BASED IN EITHER CENTRAL LONODON OR HOVE Are you CTA, AIIT, CA or ACA Qualified with at least 4 years PQE and considerable experience of employment taxes? Do you also have exposure in international tax for employers, ex-pats & business travellers and able to add insight and practical application to process improvement in an employment tax arena? Our client is one of the UK’s leading financial services organisations with an unrivalled reputation and a brand leader in the life and insurance sector. They are currently looking to recruit on a permanent basis a Employment Taxes Manager to work in either their London or Hove office. The role is part of the wider Group Tax team and is focused on employment taxes covering tax issues relating to their employees including: both employers’ and employees’ National Insurance / Social Security, PAYE and local tax equivalent, the apprenticeship levy and local equivalents, benefit in kind reporting, CIS, Off-Payroll workers and equivalent overseas employment tax obligations. You will support the delivery of the following areas across the company line with group policies and procedures:- Employment taxes compliance and process Annual reporting on employee incentives Director’s remuneration Business Travellers tax issues Off-payroll worker process NIC reporting for non-resident employees. Reviewing the controls and remedial action under the Employment Tax Controls Framework Providing tax advice (UK and cross-border ) in relation to all employment tax related matters including, employees tax & NIC, benefits & initiatives, changes in regulation, update on processes, entering new territories, tax authority queries etc Project team support on tax initiatives such as automation of key processes, introduction of an international mobility programme, and embedding new process and controls relating to Off-payroll workers Provide specialist technical advice and judgement on employment tax and social security issues Monitoring employment tax compliance across the Group Identify tax risks (via a tax control framework) Work with the business and tax authorities to manage any remedial action and achieve compliance Prepare & submit representations on employment taxes matters to tax authorities and relevant industry or advisory bodies Provide specific guidance on policy, process and compliance to HR, Finance and the business units involved in overseas assignments. Issue updates on tax technical issues/law changes to appropriate areas of the business. Provide training to HR and Finance on employment tax issues with which they are involved (e.g. termination payments, PSA, international mobility, director expenses, form P11ds and Off-payroll worker rules). Prepare annual returns/ reports for HMRC Process improvement in the annual reporting, working with tax and the business to identify processes that may be better managed in areas such as PSA reporting, global mobility, international payroll, P11Ds making end to end processes more efficient (via automation), visible and management information more available Manage relationships with external advisers and work closely with outsourced providers Applicants for this unique and rewarding role are especially invited from qualified CTA, AIIT, CA or ACA with 4 years plus post qualifying experience or with equivalent experience of employment taxes. It is likely that you will be a member or fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation or with sufficient tax experience to maintain up-to-date professional knowledge and have detailed knowledge of UK Taxes Acts and regulations, particularly as they apply to the employment taxes. In addition our client would be very interested in hearing from candidates who have an understanding of the principles around tax, social security and payroll in other countries.
