Description of Role: As an IT Support & Installation Engineer, you will be responsible for installing and configuring Paper River software solutions, both remotely from our Warwick office and also at client sites across the UK and potentially abroad. You will be liaising with our clients’ IT teams and end users to provide post-implementation testing and support. You’ll be planning and performing software upgrades. You’ll also be assisting with 2nd line support including troubleshooting and problem solving. You will be responsible for working collaboratively with our partners’ and clients’ trainers and project managers to help ensure the success of the whole project. You will be responsible for: Preparation and planning for customer installations or upgrades Installation and configuration of Paper River software solutions to our customers’ environments remotely or sometimes on site and seeing through to successful completion Creating and maintaining customer and project technical documentation. Troubleshooting, problem solving, issue resolution and escalation during the install process. Post installation testing – verifying the end-to-end functionality of the deployed solution, possibly including some on-site testing along with the appropriate communication with the customer. Involvement in the set up and management of our demo environments and test environments Following up on issues and incidents discovered during installations or on site and liaising with the development team where needed to ensure resolution. Constant improvement of internal process to ensure a consistent quality of delivery About You You have broad experience of software installation and configuration, troubleshooting, IT infrastructure, standard software packages and customer support with at least 2- 3 years’ relevant experience You are well organised with a good attention to detail You have positive attitude in general and especially around doing a job well, efficiently and accurately whilst also keeping the customer happy You are keen to work as part of a small, friendly team in an informal environment You are a fast learner, keen to get a good understating of our products and solutions You are prepared to work flexible hours to meet the needs of our international customers You are able to handle multiple fast-paced projects and juggling the different aspects of the role You know how to manage your time effectively to maximise productivity and maintain a good quality of work, but you also know to ask for help if you are stuck or overloaded You are a good written and verbal communicator with a good habit of note taking and documenting your work You have experience of handling customer facing communication You have a current driver’s licence and your own transport Desirable Qualifications, Technical Skills and Experience - but not essential : Degree or similar training in IT Systems or Computer Science Knowledge and experience of IT systems management or administration including Windows Server/Networks/MS Exchange Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group policy management. File Server roles, DFS, UNC File Shares, Windows security practices. Application Server Role functions, IIS, Windows services Knowledge and experience of SQL server, SQL queries and bespoke relational databases. SQL Server roles and permissions Using SQL management studio to inspect, maintain databases Knowledge and experience of thin client technologies and software distribution tools. Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop, XenServer.
