Overview
Job purpose To be accountable for monitoring the financial progress of projects, investigating variances and feeding outputs back to the senior colleagues across the business. To ensure that project managers provide up to date robust financial project data via the relevant finance systems in use. Key Responsibilities • Work closely with project managers across the business to review and challenge project financial plans and track progress as the projects advance. • Attend monthly project meetings in order to report on project financial performance and challenge where appropriate, whilst using as a platform to gain an insight into overall project activity. • Prepare monthly reporting pack and interpret the outputs which in turn enable senior leadership to make informed business decisions. • Connect directorates with the finance team through the production of monthly project financial forecasts in line with month end deadlines. • Investigate project financial variances and submit variance reports to key stakeholders. • Work closely with project managers to track future pipeline of potential projects. • Contribute to the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process through regular revision of project outputs. • Actively review investment committee documents and advise IC on the financial impact. • Maintain finance systems from a project perspective. • Annual R&D tax credit collation and submission. • Undertake any other ad-hoc tasks as required. Qualifications/Experience required Qualified accountant (strong QBE candidate would be considered). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Sage 200 experience not essential but highly desirable. A keen eye for attention to detail. Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines. Team player with confidence to work with colleagues across the organisation at various seniority levels.
