Overview

An established UK firm is looking for an Employment Associate to join its growing international employer services team. The Team: The Employment department splits itself into three offerings: UK employment services; international employer services; and senior executive level services. The department has a good mix of partners, senior associates and associates so internal training and development are well supported. The international employer services team is a separate business model within the firm, its objective being to focus on offering labour law and HR compliance expertise to clients in over 70 countries. It currently has a dedicated team of 5 international labour lawyers. Depending on capacity, the wider associate pool within the Employment department will also assist (and vice versa) where necessary. The Role: This role sits within the international employer services branch and focuses on international projects, advisory and corporate work. You will coordinate / advise on cross-border projects / single-country queries and will also carry out a good amount of UK-based legal work. An example of a project could be advising a company with offices across 16 jurisdictions on TUPE implications following a merger or acquisition. In this international projects role, you will advise corporates on labour law implementation across borders and also advise their HR teams on all labour law issues. The role will involve coordination between jurisdictions and you will often instruct counsel in local jurisdictions to assist. Requirements: To be successful in this international projects role, you will have an excellent academic background (a minimum 2.1 degree) and have gained experience working on international projects within a top Employment practice. You will have a keen interest in international work and a strong grounding in all aspects of employment law. A foreign language would be also be advantageous.
