Overview

We are looking for tenacious, organised and enthusiastic Team Leaders to support Norwich City Community Sport Foundation’s NCS programme during the Summer. The National Citizen Service (NCS) is a 4-week (20 days) Government-funded experience for young people aged 15-17. Phase 1. Be Epic - A 4-night out-of-county residential, with team building & leadership challenges and activities such as rock climbing, raft building and high/low ropes Phase 2. Live Life - A 4-night in-county residential, with an emphasis on project management, lifeskill development and community workshops Phase 3. Do Good - 60-hours of voluntary work over 2-weeks in the local community (e.g. renovation, charity events etc) The successful candidate/s will be deployed for a full 4-week NCS wave. Weeks 1 and 2 will beoutbound residential (60 hours per week), weeks 3 and 4 will be overseeing Social ActionProjects within their local community. Objectives • To support the wave leads in the delivery of a successful 4-week NCS programme • Lead your group of young people through a structured programme of activities at each phase of the programme. • Be a positive role model at all times. Specific responsibilities Phase 1 - Be Epic • Supervise young people on coach journeys • Live with and support participants in residential activities in the residential aspects of the programme. This will include supervision of evening activities and dorms. • Support the Wave Lead to ensure all participants are punctual to all activities • Management of groups of participants aged 15-17 years old • The welfare of groups of participants (16 participants to 2 Team Leaders) • Manage minor behavioural and group control issues • Encourage and motivate the young people to step out of comfort zone and try new things Phase 2 - Live Life • Supervise young people on coach journeys • Live with and support participants in residential activities in the residential aspects of the programme. This will include supervision of evening activities and dorms. • Facilitate groups during external workshops and activities • Ensure the group is accounted for, punctual and conduct themselves befitting to the NCS code of conduct • Support the Wave Lead with any additional requirements Phase 3 - Do Good • Complete all administrative paperwork relating to the programme to set deadlines. • Liaise regularly with your Wave leader to keep them informed of any issues and progress • Undertake monitoring and evaluation if required. • Support and maintain contact, meet face to face and be available to support your team during the planning and delivery of the SAP (social action project)Summer 2020 NCS employment dates The dates for the programmes are as follows: Wave 1: 22 June - 17 July 2020 Wave 2: 29 June - 24 July 2020 Wave 3: 6 July - 31 July 2020 Wave 4: 13 July - 7 August 2020 Wave 5: 20 July - 14 August 2020 Please note you will be required for the entire four weeks of the programme. Personal specification: Essential Dynamic and engaging Rapport and empathy with young people Ability to prioritise, manage a varied workload, work calmly under pressure and meet tight deadlines Sound judgement and a responsible attitude Ability to be calm under pressure, determined and resilient Excellent communications and interpersonal skills Ability to work individually and as part of a team Excellent organisational skills Attention to detail Willingness to work some unsocial hours, including evenings and weekends A drive to help people achieve their goals Desirable Able to adapt leadership styles to meet the needs to of varied participants Previous NCS participant Good negotiation skills Full, clean drivers license and access to vehicle during phase 3 Interviews and training All applicants will be required to attend a recruitment event and training. Offers ofemployment will only be given following satisfactory completion of the CSF saferrecruitment process and NCS training.
