About this role The role of the Financial Services (FS) Compliance team is to ensure that BT conducts its business in full compliance with all applicable national and international laws and regulations, as well as internal codes of conduct, policies, standards and procedures. The Financial Services Senior Specialist (Advisory and Policy) is charged with delivering a comprehensive and ongoing FS compliance advice service across pan BT to ensure BT remains compliant, calling out risks and concerns regarding the effectiveness of the appropriate BT controls and areas for improvement. You will play a key role in explaining the required standard of operation for FS controls within the business and advising on required improvement and remediation. You must have experience of working in the FS sector ideally in a consumer credit environment. The successful candidate will have good knowledge of FCA regulations and expert knowledge of the regulations governing consumer credit and payment services activities. You'll have the following responsibilities + Recommend to the Director of Financial Services Compliance the policies and standards for FS compliance, including the pan BT standards for each + Recommend pan-BT minimum mandatory requirements of FS compliance obligations and possible risk areas as a result of Project Denver + Provide input into business strategy for Consumer and partially Enterprise as part of Project Denver + Input and recommends on Group Compliance strategy with FS expertise + Provides clear and simply articulated Financial Services (FS) and compliance advice on required operating controls + Drives and oversees Thematic Reviews to identify gaps in Systems and Controls + Strategic relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation, working with them to independently identify FS compliance risks and to advise on and assure that effective controls are in place to mitigate these so that FS regulatory thresholds are not breached + Input to the production of papers for quarterly ARCs and other governance committee + Horizon scanning for the business on FS related matters + Keeping knowledge of their specialism current and for providing forward looking insights/ thought -leadership and outside in thinking + Recommends to the Director of FS Compliance the 2nd line of defence assurance approach and plan + Consults with deployed Consumer and Deployed Enterprise Directors on the compliance assurance plan + Statutory responsibilities and day to day liaison with FCA and other relevant authorities including all standard reporting, etc. + Advises on first line of defence + Recommends and inputs into the strategy for Project Denver + Provides specialist advice FS control operation as well as coaching, communications and training events to high risk communities, to enhance first line knowledge of relevant regulatory compliance + Recommends the approach to FS compliance and controls which would be owned by the assurance team + Supports on building FS capability at BT + Provides compliance advice, coaching and mentoring to members of the FS compliance team, as well as the RCA community, to improve performance + Identifies and recommends required training for assurance + Drives the initiatives underpinning the RCA goals and objectives You'll have the following skills & experience You are a seasoned FS professional with extensive experience in an FS compliance environment using your expertise and functional knowledge of FCA and CCA to advise and support on governance and controls at a Senior Level. Additionally you have a demonstrated track record of supporting and leading Transformation or Change Management projects in these environments. Ideally we need your experience to be focused on consumer credit in consumer facing industries. If you're consumer credit compliance and governance experience is in the Telecoms sector or in the Retail sector we would love to speak to you. Ideally you will have a recognised compliance qualification (ICA etc) to compliment your expertise but we expect you to be working towards that qualification at a very minimum.
