The ‘Financial Crime Analytics Lead’ is responsible for the ownership of all Financial Crime tools &
systems and development and implementation of the analytics framework across Financial Crime. The
role will be responsible for creating, developing, and delivering an industry leading roadmap for all,
Financial Crime systems covering, Fraud, Sanctions AML Transaction monitoring and KYC. This
will also include the analytical techniques and framework in which data is used to drive the strategy
and decisions relating to Financial Crime Prevention. The role holder will work closely with our
Compliance team, MLRO, Product and Data teams to ensure a uniform & coordinated approach to
creating a safe and seamless compliance operating framework that can sustainably scale with Altery’s
rapid growth.
Responsibilities:
● Lead and own the development of Altery Financial Crime systems and data strategy to not
only detect and disrupt financial crime but to deliver great customer & company
experiences/outcomes
● Define the Financial Crime Analytics team strategy and roadmap ensuring they reach the
business objectives in a timely fashion
● Define and deliver the data strategy for financial crime data - from working with our product
and data engineers to ensure that we capture the right data to help build models that help us
detect financial crime
● Lead the creation of analytical models and integration of these into our systems from
conception through to testing and delivery
● Lead the build, tuning and calibration of all Financial Crime systems using data driven
decisions to optimise performance of these systems.
● Drive innovative Financial Crime solutions for the customer's & companies benefit
● Own complex, data driven systems to combat fraud and financial crime, including customer
risk assessments, transaction monitoring
● Work with compliance vendors to gain a competitive advantage by encouraging R&D in
across all Financial Crime disciplines
Experience & Knowledge
● 5+ years experience in leading the management of Financial Crime detection systems in a
Financial Institution setting.
● Background & educational qualifications in the following areas are beneficial but not
essential; Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, &/Or Financial Crime prevention
qualifications.
● Track record in building and delivering cutting edge Financial Crime detection tools and data
analysis frameworks to support Financial Crime compliance.
● Experience/knowledge of all/the majority of Financial Crime Disciplines (Fraud, AML, TF,
Sanctions, Pep’s & KYC)
● Experience leading teams through periods of significant growth and development of new
disciplines/functions.
● Familiar with using a variety of analytical tools (like business intelligence tools,
experimentation, causal inference, machine learning) and coding languages (like Python SQL
& R).
● Experience communicating complex information accurately, clearly, and quickly to all levels
of management, regulators, auditors, and third parties.
● Experience in dealing with compliance vendors/solutions and the selection of new and
innovative solutions as and when appropriate.
Skill & Competencies
● Excellent knowledge of all aspects of financial crime in relation to financial services.
● Excellent communication skills and extensive experience developing and presenting clear and
concise senior management presentations
● Proven ability to understand, evaluate and resolve problems with a highly analytical approach
● Able to inspire, motivate and influence others to achieve the Company’s objectives
● Be a Financial Crime SME with knowledge across Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Bribery and
Corruption, Sanctions and Fraud
● Data and analytics skills with SQL (advanced) and exposure to Python or R
● Tuning and calibration experience with a variety of Financial Crime tools such as Feedzai &
Fico
● Familiarity with business reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau
