Job Description
Policy Intern at Sylvera Location: London / Remote Start Date: ASAP. End date: Flexible What is this Sylvera you speak of? Sylvera is scaling carbon markets with software, by developing tools to quantify stocks of carbon stored in vegetation using AI applied to satellite or drone data. Using current quantification techniques, it is impossible to provide accurate and regular data on the performance of forestry projects, which leads to issues with corruption, fraud and uncertainty. This leads to significant financial and reputational risk for corporates purchasing offsets and makes it hard for high quality forest projects to secure fair prices and low cost finance at large scale. By providing a quantitative sequestration audit trail and associated risk ratings, Sylvera intends to underpin effective voluntary carbon markets. This will allow the market to scale to keep the planet under 2C of warming, and unlock huge co benefits for nature and society. What will I be doing? * Researching and summarising current policy and upcoming policy developments in the area of carbon markets for our internal wiki. * Helping to produce high-quality thought leadership aimed at academic, industry and policymaker audiences. * Helping to draft industry reports considering the state of the carbon markets globally. Requirements What do I need? * Experience producing world-class writing that has been scrutinised by a broad audience. * Has academic, and ideally professional, knowledge of carbon markets and/or global climate policy. * Excellent communication skills. * A proactive, can-do attitude, and a willingness to learn and work hard. Brownie points * Has experience working in a policy-focused role. * Cares about the future of the planet and wants to solve climate change in the most high leverage way possible.
