Secondment or fixed term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work for the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners (APCC) in our busy policy team. The APCC is the national membership organisation representing Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs), deputy mayors and other local policing bodies. We support PCCs to provide national leadership and drive strategic change in policing, criminal justice and community safety. We are seeking a Senior Policy Manager to lead on our work on Forensics, Serious Organised Crime and Specialist Capabilities. This is an important role working with PCCs, wider policing stakeholders, the Forensics Capability Network and policing more widely, mobilising new approaches to tackle serious crime and to make the most of the opportunities provided by emerging technologies. You will be responsible for supporting a high-profile programme of work to deliver the new arrangements for police forensic services and will lead on the APCC's policy work on Serious Organised Crime and Specialist Capabilities, working with PCC leads and other senior stakeholders. This is a rewarding and demanding role. You will need to have excellent analytical, policy development, communications, and problem-solving skills, and to be passionate about the role of PCCs in police transformation and crime reduction. Whilst you do not need to have operational policing experience, you do need to have a good understanding and appreciation of the policing policy and governance landscape. You will be joining the APCC at a critical time, with a fast-paced policing and crime agenda being delivered across our police force areas, including the response to the policing and criminal justice impact of covid-19. If this role is of interest, we would love to hear from you. This post is offered as a fixed term contract or as a secondment opportunity. Location: Subject to Covid recovery plans, the postholder could either be based in our London Westminster office, or work from a local PCC office. There will be some travel involved in the role.
