Job Description
Fixed term contract or secondment until 30 June 2021 The role As an adviser you will contribute to developing the LGA's key policy messages on services for children and families. You will lead projects across a wide range of areas, including early education and childcare, youth justice and youth services. Often in the media spotlight, this is a key area of interest for councils and a priority for the LGA. Your work will include supporting councils and working with partners as we move into the next phases of the COVID-19 response, and you will need to be able to work flexibly to respond to rapidly changing circumstances and priorities. Working in the Children and Young People Team of the Policy Directorate your main responsibilities will be to: * Support the team's work on children's social care, children's services and education * Develop the LGA's policy in specific areas, including improving the life chances of children and young people * Develop support for councillors to improve local delivery of children's services The requirements We are looking for an effective team player with excellent organisational and people skills. Ideally you will have a good knowledge and understanding of local government and children's services. You will be working alongside national partners including relevant Government departments and the Association of Directors of Children Services and will need to excel in relationship building and joint delivery of projects as well as being able to engage directly with local authorities and offer bespoke support where required.
