Job Description
We are currently recruiting a Financial Controller to join the Corporate team in our London Bridge offices as Financial Controller, Corporate . The role reports to the VP Accounting and Control (with a secondary reporting line to Group Chief Accountant) and leads a team of three. The Financial Controller is responsible for the accounting and financial control functions of the corporate office and associated offices in other territories. The role is responsible for producing/reviewing accurate financial statements, forecasts and budgets for corporate office entities, the processing of recharge invoices, balance sheet reconciliations and adherence to the Belmond financial policy. Key responsibilities * Responsible for monitoring, controlling and recording all sales, purchases, salaries and expenses of the corporate and sales offices. * Responsible for preparing a comprehensive monthly report of the entire financial results of the corporate and sales offices in established corporate formats and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. * Prepare forecasts and budgets as required by the corporate office and to report any deviation of over-expenditure, under-budgeting or non-compliance to the approved budget to the VP Accounting & Control. * Assign and delegate responsibility and authority to the Corporate Accountant, and other supervisors who assist the Financial Controller with the financial administration of the corporate office. * Assist in establishing policies, rules, internal controls and safeguards that ensure profitability and control of operations and to report any deviations to the VP Accounting & Control. * Provide Treasurer function to the Corporate Office with regard to cash planning, and review the cash position on a daily basis in order to optimize the use of funds. * Review the status of Accounts Receivable aging and monitor billing and collections of management fees; sales & marketing fees; reservation fees; corporate recharges; travel agent commission and any other relevant charges to ensure achieving company standards. * Ensure that all local, state and federal taxes are deposited timely, and all related reports are filed on a timely basis. * Maintain files on all contracts, leases and agreements and ensure compliance with their requirements. * Effectively lead and manage direct reports, taking responsibility for people-related actions such as hiring, engagement, motivation, discipline, performance management, etc. * Evaluate the performance of Accounting team members with proactive development and an emphasis on those individuals qualifying for future advancement. * Maintain close liaison with external auditors and internal control ensuring effective action as necessary on all their agreed upon recommendations. * Conduct self in a professional manner and encourage staff to do the same. * Perform any additional duties as assigned by the VP Accounting & Control. Requirements The ideal candidate will * Be a qualified accountant holding ACA, ACCA, CIMA or similar qualification/accreditation at a suitable level, or have an accounting or hospitality degree or similar. * Have 5+ years experience of financial control and closing books in a large international organization, ideally within the hotel sector. * Have experience of multiple accounting systems, with Workday experience being an advantage. * Have advanced Excel skills. * Be an excellent communicator able to communicate with management, both financial and non-financial colleagues, and with an internationally diverse network of Financial Controllers across the Belmond global portfolio.
