We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Senior Health Care Assistant at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) to join our small, friendly, and dedicated pre-assessment team within the women and newborn care group at the Princess Anne Hospital. This position is part time 30 hours on a permanent basis. The pre-assessment clinic assesses and prepares patients for investigations and surgery. ABOUT THE TEAM The service is run from Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm, working alongside the Outpatient clinics. We offer a unique "One Stop" experience for patients and have been the pioneers for this model of practice within the Trust. The post holder will work closely with a multi-professional team across: * outpatients, covering gynaecology, maternity and breast services * early pregnancy/gynae assessment unit * hysteroscopy/colposcopy * Bramshaw women's unit * theatres WHAT YOU'LL DO You will be working within the "One Stop" pre-operative assessment service, ensuring that patients are reviewed from clinic and pre-assessed on the day if appropriate, whilst also supporting and working closely with the Nurse Led pre-assessment service. Your role will be crucial to ensuring an excellent patient experience throughout their pathway. This demanding role offers the opportunity to develop a range of skills including: * venesection * working with multidisciplinary teams * organisation and planning * interpersonal skills WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR We are looking for a caring, motivated individual who * Possess excellent communication skills * Has experience within a surgical pre-operative assessment service. * Is able to work as part of a team and under own initiative.
