Online applicants are welcome to apply for the post as Senior Fellow in Acute Oncology (Clinical). This is a 12 month fixed term post. ABOUT THE TEAM The role is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative and dynamic team of consultants, speciality doctors and advanced nurse practitioners in the Macmillan Acute Oncology Service at Southampton General Hospital. We are an award winning pioneering service where nurse practitioners and medical staff work together managing oncological and haematological emergencies in a patient-centred environment. WHAT YOU'LL DO Clinical duties would include management of toxicities of cancer treatments, symptoms of cancer and providing an outreach service to the rest of the hospital giving advice for patients with newly diagnosed cancer. In addition, they will provide support and education to the advanced nurse practitioners working in the department. The post is designed to fulfill the requirements for out-of-programme experience for a specialist trainee in any field relevant to cancer medicine, but may also be suitable for an individual who does not yet have a national training number and wishes to pursue a career in cancer medicine. The unit has a track record of supporting non-training grade doctors with their career goals and job plans can be designed to accommodate specific interests within oncology.
