Job Description

As Head of Systems and Tools at HS2 you will be responsible for managing and integrating project controls systems, defining and transforming the systems landscape and supporting the operation of these systems in delivery. About the role: * To be accountable for leading the ongoing management of the project controls systems landscape, and data platform to allow expedient, accurate and effective performance reporting and analysis. * To be accountable for delivering and implementing systems support, guidance, training and subject matter expertise to Phase One and Phase Two Project Controls teams relating to systems and data management. * To be accountable the operation, maintenance and administration of project controls systems and tools across delivery * To be accountable for ensuring user roles and rights are maintained across all Project Controls systems. * To be responsible for ensuring all data submitted from the HS2 supply chain is captured or structured in a meaningful and consistent format to enable reporting across any segmentation or integration layer * To be responsible for working closely with IT to deliver and implement a Project Controls systems and tools strategy that continuously improves and strengthens HS2's capability in data management. * To be accountable for managing the integration and interfaces between all Project Controls systems (across cost, planning, risk, reporting and change management) * To be responsible for the delivery of an internal project to integrate HS2 systems (Project Controls and wider systems such as Health and Safety) into a data platform to enable automated reporting. * To be responsible for managing contracts and the delivery of external managed services for project controls systems * To be responsible for the financial management of budgets relating to risk management, contributing to the effective financial planning and control of the PMO budgets. * Actively promoting and embedding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and supporting and complying with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI. About You: Skills: * Clear Direction - Defining and prioritising objectives, analysing inputs, assessing and assessing data, defining strategies and supporting rationales. Ability to direct the broader team on the actions needed to manage and mitigate any critical issues. * Complex problem solving - identifying complex problems; reviewing, analysing and interpreting a wide range of data to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Ability to assimilate large volumes of detail, drawing out the key issues in a clear and concise way, suitable for all audiences. * Prioritisation - able to manage and plan multiple workstreams and the competing demands of stakeholders. * Decision Quality - Gathering and synthesising information, identifying options and applying judgement based on logic and reason, making use of a variety of analytical approaches to provide relevant information to suppliers, stakeholders and decision makers using key facts and data. * Communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and influence colleagues and external stakeholders at all levels, including the Board and Senior Executives. * Ability to assimilate large volumes of detail, drawing out the key issues in a clear and concise way, suitable for all audiences. * Ability to effectively manage project controls process and systems Knowledge: * Knowledge of the operation and integration of Project Controls Systems (P6, CEMAR, Xactium, Tableau, Power BI etc.) * Knowledge of the core Project Controls disciplines, including; Schedule Management, Cost Management, Change Management and Risk Management and how they interrelate Type of experience: * Experience of operating effectively as a senior leader, undertaking significant value programmes of work which are subject to external scrutiny. * Experience of leading and developing a team within a major project or programme. * Recognised and relevant professional qualification, including -APM (Association for Project Management) * Experience of developing and implementing systems, processes and procedure revisions within complex project environments About Us: High Speed 2 (HS2 Ltd) will be the UK's new high speed rail network.
