Grade: M Band 1 Salary: 47,982 - 54,657 Closing date: 28th June 2020, midnight Applications are invited for the post of Deputy Head of Intelligence within Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands (CTPWM), currently based near Birmingham Airport. The Deputy Head of Intelligence is a senior management position, with responsibility for managing and developing intelligence within CTPWM to inform decision-making and mitigate threat, risk and harm. You will be responsible for the operational and tactical management of intelligence across the West Midlands Region. This relates to national security, terrorism, right and left wing terrorism (domestic extremism) and hostile state actors. You will manage the intelligence support to priority investigations, utilising appropriate intelligence gathering resources, working with a range of partnership agencies and the covert policing arena. By managing the strategic direction of the CTPWM Intelligence Unit, you will be responsible for the assessment of the threat, risk and harm posed to the West Midlands, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and West Mercia. You will be required to service national work streams and lead on designated areas of intelligence management. It is essential that you have effective communication skills and the ability to assimilate information quickly and formulate solutions when necessary. Experience in managing and directing specialist crime intelligence development, within the National Intelligence Model, including understanding of intelligence processes and products is also essential. You will also have the ability to demonstrate the identification and management of threat, risk and harm. The Intelligence Unit has various sub units including Fixed Intelligence Management Unit (FIMU) and the Operational Intelligence Management Unit (OIMU) The FIMU is central to the intelligence function across the region, who receive, assess and process intelligence. The OIMU is the intelligence support to operational functions and works alongside partner agencies and investigation teams to develop intelligence and provide live support to operations from the surveillance operations rooms.
