Job Summary & Responsibilities: Research and compile information as well as perform marketing activities to support Investment Banking prospecting efforts. Support the creation of marketing pitch materials for prospective IB client presentations. Support transaction execution through all phases up to completion. The Sponsor Coverage Specialist position is a critical support role within the Financial Sponsors Group (FSG). Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Financial Buyer Intelligence * Manage William Blair's proprietary, in-depth knowledge of financial buyer investment criteria and behavior * Identify and fill gaps in critical information needs * Collect, enter and analyze data in support of William Blair and client needs * Build and manage the Financial Sponsors Group (FSG) library of information, tools,resources, processes and content to empower team Relationship Management * Create marketing and pitch materials, including annual relationship reviews, quarterly updates, deal flow discussions and sector-focused discussions * Coordinate client interaction in the annual Private Equity Conference - client outreach, 1on1 scheduling, meeting logistics and other client service * Attend Private Equity client meetings and industry conferences Targeting * Manage database of sponsor-backed portfolio companies and targets * Work with senior FSG bankers throughout identification, triage, alignment and pursuit of highest priority targets * Work with FSG and other senior bankers to develop tactics and action plans for high priority targets Pitch and Execution Support * Coordinate between FSG and sector bankers to screen and develop thoughtful financial buyers lists and comprehensive pitch presentation slides * Provide transaction teams with financial buyer tear sheets, financial buyer profiles and any other FSG insights for selected buyers as part of marketing and bid review processes Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree required * At least 1 year of experience professional services required; financial services industry experience strongly preferred * Requirement to successfully complete Level 3 exams with FCA within 90 days of commencing employment (for UK and EU only) * Experience with CRM software, especially SalesForce * Market research and analysis skills * German language proficiency preferred * Project management and prioritization skills * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Ability to collaborate across multiple functions * Attention to detail and quality * Proficiency in Microsoft Office
