Job Description

About the team: We have a Clinical Psychologist post within our Community Mental Health & Learning Disabilities Service (MHLD), working with adults with learning disabilities who have additional mental health difficulties and/or behaviour that challenges, and their networks. We provide a psychology and behavioural support service across the boroughs of Lewisham, Lambeth & Southwark. About the role: You will be expected to work directly and indirectly with people with learning disabilities, families, and carers to provide a range of high quality, evidence-based collaborative assessments and interventions. You will be expected to carry out research and audits as part of your work. We are looking for someone that can bring a dynamic and creative approach to service delivery, aimed at improving the lives of people with learning disabilities who have additional mental health needs and/or challenging behaviour. Across the three boroughs, we provide a range of psychological assessments and interventions for people with learning disabilities and their networks, with specialist expertise and interests across the service in systemic, narrative, neuropsychology, CAT and positive behavioural support approaches. You will be expected to make use of regular CPD sessions within the Trust as well as special interest/supervision groups offered by psychologists within the service, aimed at further developing therapeutic skills and knowledge. We have close links with the Estia Centre and as we are part of a Clinical Academic Group within Kings Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre, research interests are encouraged. We would welcome applications from DClinPsy trainees in their final year of training and there are opportunities for newly qualified staff to gain experience as part of their CPD within the wider neurodevelopmental service if desired About the location: Lewisham MHLD is located in central Catford (SE5), co-located with the wider Lewisham CTLD staff, employed by Guys and St Thomas's Trust. The team base is around 5 minutes from Catford and Catford Bridge Stations and close to all local amenities.
