POSITION Our Operational Risk Management (ORM) Team collaborates with first line management in an effort to optimize the firm's strategic & tactical operational risk exposure through continuous key risk identification and monitoring, risk aware decision making, and the development and driving of the risk agenda and related mitigation strategies. THE POSITION The Operational Risk Manager will report to the Director of Operational Risk Management for Asia-Pacific and EMEA and be responsible for continuous firmwide key risk identification and monitoring, influencing risk informed decision making, and collaborating with first line management to develop and monitor the operational risk agenda and related mitigation strategies. In doing so the Manager will play a leading role in evolving the risk management framework and ensuring the functions matures in line with local industry and regulatory expectations. Specific objectives for this role are as follows: Maintain a prominent presence for ORM within the regional offices in Asia-Pacific and EMEA Partner with the local business leaders and act as thought partner for them on all matters related to operational risk management Collaborate with second line of defense colleagues across geographies while executing an independent perspective as it pertains to areas of risk and how they should be addressed Keep informed of business trends and firm wide key strategic and tactical risks Lead risk management and governance forums Drive risk management framework standards within the 1st line of the business Lead the regional risk and controls assessment in collaboration with Internal Audit Steer the firmwide risk priorities (with direction from risk committees and in collaboration with 1st line management and Internal Audit and other 2nd line risk functions) Influence the development of strategic and tactical risk mitigation solutions (technology, process, controls, governance) Challenge 1st line management to ensure operational risks are appropriately reflected in tactical and strategic decision making Foster collaboration and cohesive risk priorities and plans with ORM team members and other risk functions Develop trusted relationships with firm wide peers Work with local management teams to develop a culture of risk awareness The successful candidate will someone who, in-time, is capable of assuming leadership of Wellington's Asia-Pacific and EMEA Operational Risk management function. QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate will be credentialed risk management professional with a minimum of 10 years of operational risk management experience within the investment management industry, including experience with developing and managing operational risk frameworks. Consulting/advisory experience and relevant professional certifications are a plus. Additional qualifications include: Experience with identifying and mitigating global operational risks within the investment management industry Experience with developing and implementing the key components of a risk management framework Demonstrated collaboration and advisory capabilities Ability to balance strategic and tactical priorities, both at the firm wide and regional levels Leadership of diverse working groups and project teams Creative use of technology for risk monitoring and reporting Implementation and support of governance, risk, and compliance tools Knowledge of local governance standards Experience working within Asia and/or Europe is a necessity as is knowledge of local regulatory expectations of the operational risk management function.
