About the Role The Athletic is looking for a Partnerships Director to help The Athletic find new ways for the business to grow. In the role, you will have the opportunity to identify new opportunities for The Athletic and work with a wide variety of partners to find new lines of revenue and find ways to grow The Athletic's subscription base. Responsibilities * Identify strategic partnership opportunities to grow our business * Work with editorial team on identifying new opportunities to expand the reach of our talent * Work with partners on deals from ideation to execution * Sourcing brand partners and executing on-brand sponsorships * Developing strategies for audience development and activations * Negotiate and manage vendor/data relationships for our UK office * Support the global business development group on cross-market opportunities Requirements * 7+ years of partnership sales or business development experience, ideally in editorial/media, sports or a start-up environment * Demonstrated ability to see business development opportunities through from prospecting to negotiations to execution * Existing relationships with key brand executives, which can be leveraged for potential partnerships * Experience creating basic financial models to evaluate partnerships * Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal * Creative, strategic mindset in which no task is too big or small * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Experience working on partnerships at a previous media company is a plus The Company is backed by Founders Fund, Evolution Media, Courtside Ventures, Comcast Ventures, Bedrock Capital, Advancit Capital, Y Combinator, and other leading investors.
