ROLE DESCRIPTION ROLE TITLE Finance Analyst LOCATION London REPORTING TO Finance Manager REPORTS n/a BACKGROUND Pottermore Publishing is the global digital publisher of the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts series, as well as other audiobooks and eBooks from the Wizarding World. Our aim is innovative digital publishing that brings those stories to life and attracts a new generation of readers. We work with global eBook and audiobook retailers to celebrate the world that first began with the Boy Who Lived. OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Finance Analyst will lead sales / revenue and COGs assurance, reporting and analysis for Pottermore Publishing with a particular focus on the business's key accounts, supporting the Finance Manager. This is a critical role in connecting finance planning to commercial & creative functions through ownership . SUMMARY OF DUTIES Responsibilities Sales, Revenue & COGs assurance and reporting: * Own the data process and output for all sales / revenue and COGs detail. * Work closely with Finance Manager ensuring revenue, commissions and royalties are calculated and posted accurately, feeding through to General Ledger and Financial Reports. * Develop a detailed understanding of the distribution deals in place and support Finance Manager in entering the financial detail into the Sage X3 system. * Monthly Sales / Revenues: * Lead month-end sales / revenue processes which involve receipt, review and ingestion of sales reports received from distribution partners and processing as sales journals * Manage the audit of sales reports to contract rights, checking the mapping work of multiple third-party distributor reports by the Junior Analyst. * Track recoupment of sales against Minimum Guaranteed upfront payments * Monthly COGS: * Lead month end COGs process which involves running calculations based on sales records and contractual royalty rates and processing accruals and invoices to record the cost. * Manage the update of the product catalogue feed from Biblio ensuring correct attribution of royalty participants and royalty rates to products in the financial system. * Manage the Junior Analyst in running royalty calculations, check all products have been attributed to the correct participants and royalty rates, run and check quarterly and bi-annual participant statements before distributing for payment to participants (payment process managed by A/P team). * Weekly Sales Reporting: * Manage the Junior Analyst in preparation and maintenance of weekly Retail Sales report involving consolidation and audit of detailed sales data sourced from multiple channels. * Accounts receivable - Manage the Junior Analyst in timely updates of A/R. Financial Planning and Analysis: * Support the Finance Manager in budget and forecasting process, actuals tracking and obtaining financial insights through refresh, review and analysis of the monthly consolidated sales & revenue position. * Support and challenge the Account Management team in setting targets and budgets. * Help with research into pricing, competitors and factors affecting performance to support commercial analysis. * Support the Account Management team in their analysis by ensuring availability and understanding of data sources (SEI) Systems & Processes: * Working closely with Reporting and Infrastructure Manager, contribute to systems and process development projects, including design and implementation of distributor data inflows, new Management Information reports, dashboards, etc. * Seek out improvements to current processes and help drive through change. Product and Marketing Cost Management: * Support Marketing and Production teams in actuals review and project tracking. Gain a thorough understanding of the purchase order process to help guide the business teams through it when needed and to perform analysis if required (A/P managed by separate team). Person Specification * Professional finance / business / data qualification * Confidence & substance to take ownership of processes and outputs * Excellent analytical skills * Ability to fully understand business models from commercial and data flow perspectives * Excellent Excel experience including Power Query * Experience in data and data base management and an understanding of the rigour needed to maintain ownership of business data and associated systems * Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build partnerships with commercial leads * Self starter with appetite for continued personal and professional development * Competent line manager with natural drive to share knowledge, teach and coach to improve team outcomes Apply for this Job
