Job Description
Huckletree is a Pan-European workspace and growth accelerator building hubs for startups, scaleups and innovative brands to come together. As we look to grow and diversify our business in the current environment, the newly created Finance Director role will strengthen our back office Finance team and steer the financial landscape at Huckletree. We have already created and launched new digital-first products for our member businesses, including a virtual-only event programme and five-day bootcamp for early-stage entrepreneurs, with more to come. We are looking for a hands-on Finance Director who is actively involved in the day to day operation of Finance whilst supporting the Senior Management Team with forecasting and strategic finance input Requirements Day to day management of the finance function including; * Overall responsibility for the financial management, cost control and cash management of the company. * Overseeing the monthly financial close and reporting, including reporting to the Senior Team, Board and other external reporting requirements. * Leading on all tax filings and holding the relationship with HMRC * Managing the groups banking arrangements and being responsible for overseeing all payment cycles * Oversee working capital management including managing credit control and liaising with external debt collection agencies as required * Managing payroll in conjunction with HR and outsourced payroll bureaus * All aspects of financial planning and analysis (including annual budget cycles) for the Group, working closely with our VP Commercial to ensure the business has the right information at the right time to make good commercial decisions. * Managing and developing 4 direct reports * Continuing to evolve the processes and level of automation within the finance team to drive efficiencies including working closely with our software providers to drive the development of new features we req Board and Investor reporting including; * Preparing monthly overview packs for the board of directors and Senior Management team * Supporting the COO in the production of quarterly investor updates * Leading on our JV quarterly reporting cycles Company secretarial & regulatory compliance for the group including; * Managing Company Secretarial matters including the cap table with our third party accountants and provide support to the Senior Team in relation to the impact of fundraising and M&A activities. * Leading the companys relationship with lawyers, insurers, accountants, tax authorities and other external parties to ensure that all legal obligations are met and the companys risks are effectively managed. * Managing the Groups share incentive schemes and ensure all filings and documentation are up to date and accurate Expansion and M&A activities including * Supporting the COO with fundraising by building funding models, maintaining a data room and co-ordinating the fundraising processes * Working with our Director of Expansion to assess the financial viability of future sites and commercial initiatives. * Supporting the sales and commercial teams in assessing the financial viability of new products and location About You We are looking for an experience FD who is willing to get stuck in to the day to day aspects of finance as well as the higher level strategic work; * Significant commercial experience in a Head of Finance/Finance Director level role leading a team of 3 -5 people (ideally in a scale up or SME business) combined with hands-on experience of operating the day to day finance function. * A strong understanding of the tax environment for early stage businesses including R&D tax, EMI/ESOPs and share transactions. * Advanced excel skills to be able to lead in all financial planning and analysis * A strong understanding of the tax environment for early stage businesses including R&D tax, EMI/ESOPs and share transactions * Strong people management skills managing a diverse team of Finance professionals, and ideally HR as this role is also line manager to a small HR Team. * Some Operational experience is key to this role to ensure that you can see the 'bigger picture. * We would love to see some entrepreneurial spirit, you will see what needs to be done and figure out a way to get there - this can be from small day to day processes or the larger strategy. * You will be able to work effectively under pressure and agile in approach to requirements from a fast moving and growing business and the ability to manage stakeholder expectations. * Able to communicate effectively at all levels within the business from boots on the ground to Board level, both in writing and verbally Benefits Youll have access to a wide range of perks aimed to support you in all areas of your life.
