Vacancy:CNS /Senior Recovery practitioner (Rough Sleepers) Better Lives is an integrated drug and alcohol service based in Islington and delivered by Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with WDP and Humankind. We offer a free and confidential support service for individuals and their families affected by drug and alcohol problems. We are looking for someone with experience of working with rough sleepers/street homeless to join our specialist team including substance misuse practitioners, doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologists and pharmacists, as well as complementary therapists, volunteers and peer mentors. Working as part of a multidisciplinary Substance Misuse Team in Better Lives in Islington the post holder will be responsible for providing individual assessment identified clinical interventions and direct care to service users with substance misuse problems. They will also undertake the lead role of an outreach worker working with one of our partner agencies being the link between these services for those people whose vulnerabilities and complexities make engagement with treatment services a barrier. The post holder will be working with those who are rough sleeping or have issues that affect their ability to hold tenancies due to their substance misuse or health needs. The post holder will be expected to work with those who are not 'treatment ready' or who keep falling out of treatment, to increase their motivation to engage/remain in treatment by using motivational interviewing techniques. The post holder will be an experienced practitioner/clinician with sound knowledge of issues affecting rough sleepers and safeguarding vulnerable adults. As a clinical nurse specialist or senior recovery practitioner the post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the team understands and operates to the requirements of the service operational policy and strategy, and that safe, evidence based, effective, culturally competent care is delivered in a timely manner to service users. They will be working within Better Lives but co-located within Islington Council's street population team and also the commissioned outreach service, they will provide clinical advice to frontline outreach workers & take part in case conferences, and monthly task and targeting meetings. They will need a flexible approach to their work load and responsibilities as well as the ability to build effective cross partner relationships. This role will require the post holder to cover a large geographical area and is not a sedentary position. The post holder will be expected to do street outreach shifts, which may include early mornings and late nights on occasion. They will be responsible for a defined caseload and they will formulate appropriate specific, highly specialist care and treatment plans; providing highly skilled and specialist interventions and care to service users with complex substance misuse problems.
