Job purpose The role is instrumental in leading change, working with key stakeholder groups in the development and implementation of innovative, cross-category substrates and processing technology solutions, building and enhancing development capability and capacity. This is done through translation of the commercial needs for the product into an effective technological brief that is then delivered via your leadership and support of internal and external partners and companies. Principal accountabilities * Lead new to world CAP 3 process and substrate development as required to deliver innovation pipeline within the fast-moving pace of the Tobacco Heating Product (THP) portfolio * Liaise with internal and external partners and teams to develop and deliver innovative substrates and products * Partner with the Innovation Development Centre (IDC) and USA Substrate COE team, and a broad range of R&D stakeholders, in the UK, the US and elsewhere, at all stages of the process * Assess the applicability of new breakthrough solutions to projects * Develop and validate prototypes to confirm launch specifications * Ensure all novel technologies are protected through IP as per BAT processes * Liaise with and integrate the new materials and processes with THP, R&D, Commercial, Product, Quality, Manufacturing and Supply Chain partners and stakeholders to ensure requirements identified and integrated into the development * The role is responsible for the delivery of an assigned portfolio of projects and activities within the NGP via coordination of internal and external stakeholders in alignment with the Principal Development Managers (THP) Knowledge, skills and experience * Degree or equivalent in a science or related subject would be advantageous * Detailed knowledge and experience of R&D substrate * Experience in product development, primary and secondary manufacturing processing * Open mindedness to rapidly changing priorities and challenges * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills * Ability to influence internal and external key partners and stakeholders up to senior level * Planning and implementation skills and ability to manage a portfolio of projects * Ability to think fast and in new ways to resolve emerging challenges and develop alternate ways of working Benefits * Base salary from 62,400 to 78,000 per year, depending of relevant experience * Bonus target up to 40% of annual base salary * Car allowance * 25 days annual leave * Participation in Discretionary Company Bonus Scheme * Participation in Company Share Reward Scheme * Company Pension Scheme * Private Healthcare Cover * Eligibility for Company Flexible Benefits Scheme.
