Job Description

As our Chief Architect : You are a highly visible and influential presence within the technology organisation. You are the architectural conscience of the CTO, to whom you report, a member of the technology leadership team and chair of the architecture steering committee. Key responsibilities range from leading and mentoring a globally distributed architecture team, developing and promoting a scalable architectural vision and strategy, and conducting high-level risk assessment and impact analyses, to safeguard our architecture governance and compliance, including non-functional requirements. We are embarking on a significant technology transformation and are looking for an experienced Chief Architect who can partner with the Director of Engineering, Head of Product Design and CTO to not only conceptualise the future architecture but gain traction for his/her vision. We are looking for a dynamic individual who can drive innovation and knows what it takes to guide a technology function by translating the product strategy into solution concepts, models and designs as well as educating technology and senior business leaders with the art of the possible. The Chief Architect will look to not only inspire the architecture team and engineering leads, but also commit them to the necessary changes that will enable the technology transformation to be successful. Responsibilities Include * Lead and mentor a team of architects, ensuring a cohesive architectural approach is adopted across all of Euromonitor's technology platforms and product teams * Lead the selection, ongoing review and adoption of best practice architecture and design patterns * Help define the overall technology vision and strategy and own the long-term architectural roadmap to meet Euromonitor's future needs * Maintain current and future state architecture plans * Work with development partners and evaluate deliverables are aligned to Euromonitor's architecture guidelines and strategy * Deliver prototypes as required to demonstrate the value of new technology and facilitate the handover and subsequent adoption of new technologies to engineering * Coordinate with the product management team to gain awareness of the product roadmaps and ensure the architecture team are considering architecture ahead of time * Where necessary, provide training and mentorship to software engineering teams * Work with delivery teams across the technology verticals to effectively implement the technology strategy * Evaluate emerging technologies and incorporate these into the technology vision * Support the development, maintenance, communication and execution of a robust Architecture management and governance framework * Evaluate the cost of ownership of products, ensuring the right architecture is being considered whether built, licensed or bought. * Assess the impact of solution change on the current and future architecture and the overall fit of solutions being recommended * Identify and resolve architecture issues and risks * Identify and implement opportunities for innovation and improvement in architectural and technology best practice * Build information communities to drive best practices, standards and architectural thinking within Euromonitor * Collaborate with colleagues across technology to ensure alignment between Architecture and the IT Controls framework, Information Security and Compliance. * Worked in a fast passed, transformational environment partnering leading Architecture * Extensive experience in software development * Roughly 10 years of software architecture experience, 5 years in a leading position * Experience in infrastructure, database and networking architecture for highly available, Internet-scale applications * Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with Architects, IT Management and developers * Strong written communication skills * Working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies * In-depth knowledge of cloud architecture principles, patterns and practices * Worked in an information led (Data and Content) business * Adapt at development methods, methodologies and processes as well as software operations * Experience of delivering MS Azure technologies and platforms * Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly * Professional experience in a publishing environment * Experience working with content & data processing * Knowledge of Content Delivery Networks (CDN) and caching technologies for delivery of content to consumers * Understanding of Machine Learning in a publishing context e.g. metdata enrichment, automated tagging, personalisation * Practical experience in Containers and Container orchestration. * Solid understanding of DevOps tooling and CI/CD * Experience with publishing workflows and data pipelines Requirements Professi
