We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Specialist (Colorectal Cancer) to join our cancer services team based at our Duchess of Devonshire Wing (Cancer Centre) in Central London, (Close to Regents Park or Baker Street tube stations). The Duchess of Devonshire Wing is our award-winning cancer centre, which includes state-of-the-art radiotherapy, chemotherapy suites and 47 dedicated patient bedrooms for Oncology & Haematology patients. Job Description As a Clinical Nurse Specialist you will be a core member of the clinical team supporting the Colorectal Oncology Consultants in providing specialist clinical management for oncology patients. You will provide support and advice to patients/carers/relatives/multidisciplinary team, and will be responsible for the provision, quality and development of the colorectal oncology service within The London Clinic with a focus on the Oncology pathway. * Job Type: This is a full time, permanent position, working 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday. * Salary: The attractive salary for this role is 40,232 - 48,416, and will be dependent upon skills and experience. * Benefits package: We offer a comprehensive package which includes a contribution pension scheme (total annual contribution up to 20%), Private Medical Healthcare, 33 day's annual leave (Inclusive), plus much more. Duties & Responsibilities * Undertake advanced patient assessment, advising on immediate care or referral for medical interventions, ensuring the prompt and effective management of patients. * Provide patient and their relatives with information and support, and where necessary facilitate communication and decision making between them and the multidisciplinary team. * Carry an ongoing caseload of patients, working with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate care and refers patients to specialist professionals, as necessary. * Assist the team to develop and implement integrated care pathways for colorectal patients with the multidisciplinary team, especially within the Oncology pathway. * Develop complex reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and analysis to inform health assessments, clinical judgements and to make decisions independently regarding the care and priorities. Skills & Experience * Registered General Nurse with valid NMC pin. * Post registration course within the Oncology specialism or working towards. * Recognised teaching qualification. * Considerable post registration experience in an acute hospital within an oncology setting. * Clinical leadership qualities, including team working and team building skills with a proven track record of recognised practice development initiatives. * Excellent communication, organisational and team building skills, with the ability to problem solve and deal with situations a diplomatic, non-confrontational manner.
