Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Wakefield Council to appoint a Sector Development Manager. The post will work within the Economic Growth and Skills Service, reporting directly to the Enterprise Manager. The post holder will play a critical role in leading the implementation of a strategy for Growth Sector Development, specifically Creative and Digital and Business and Professional Services. The role will involve supporting new start businesses with high growth potential. You will provide them with commercial business advice around access to finance, accessing new markets, bringing new products to market and product innovation. This is a part time, permanent position (14.8hrs per week) and part of a job share. This is the perfect opportunity for individuals with previous experience in the Creative and Digital and Business and Professional Services industry. The Economic Service is entering its third year of a five year Economic Strategy and this is an exciting time to join the team. Many new start businesses are currently facing the challenges posed by the Coronavirus pandemic and this role will be crucial in supporting employers to recovery and future business growth. You will join a proactive, dynamic team and influence the development of internal strategies and provide technical support on projects relating to business growth. This post is part-funded through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the England 2014 to 2020 European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) Growth Programme.
