Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated Orthoptist to join our busy, friendly department for a permanent post based at Bexhill Hospital, with some sessions at other sites including Eastbourne DGH. We have 8 orthoptists, 9 consultant ophthalmologists across the Trust, supported by visual fields technicians and an in-house optometry service . The cross-site orthoptic department provides a full paediatric and adult ocular motility service, including stroke assessment, max-fax and endocrinology patients with extended roles within Glaucoma, Medical Retina and LVA services plus an orthoptic-led school vision screening programme. The department actively supports CPD through regular journal clubs, audit and joint teaching sessions and is an accredited placement site for Orthoptic students A Degree or Diploma in Orthoptics and current HCPC registration are essential. Post registration experience in the assessment of glaucoma is desirable however training can be provided and learning will be supported. It is essential to be competent in the delivery of intravitreal injections with experience of working within this field. A relevant teaching qualification and experience of supervising orthoptic under-graduate students are desirable.
