Job Description

Barnet, Enfield, and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust seeks to recruit an enthusiastic, full-time (10 PA) Locum Consultant Psychiatrist for our women's assessment and treatment ward (Fairlands ward) at St Ann's Hospital, London Borough of Haringey. This post is fixed term for a period of 6 months pending Royal College approval to recruit substantively. The Consultant will be required to provide clinical and professional leadership to Fairlands ward and to take part in related management activities. As a senior clinician, you will have an integral role in the performance of the team, further development of the service, and the development of clinical pathways and priorities. You will have experience in the assessment and treatment of women with a wide range of mental health problems, be knowledgeable about evidence-based treatments, show leadership skills, have an interest in research, demonstrate an ability to teach experts and novices alike, and have supervision skills. An aptitude to work collaboratively and respectfully in a multi-disciplinary team is essential. You will be supported by two junior doctors and the ward multi-disciplinary team, which includes nursing staff, a psychologist, OT, dual diagnosis and sessional therapists. Applicants must be fully registered medical practitioners and on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining their CCT, be approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983, and have Approved Clinician status.
