8PA FIXED TERM LOCUM CONSULTANT in Hepatology and General (Internal) Medicine ST MARY'S HOSPITAL Division of Medicine Ref: LCONA446 Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is looking to appoint part-time locum (8PA) Consultant in G(I)M and Hepatology with immediate effect for a period of 12 months. The successful candidate will share acute on call and ward duties with the existing Consultants as well as supporting the outpatient and inpatient work of the Department. The posts will be based mainly at the St Mary's site. The Liver Unit at St Marys is a busy tertiary hepatology facility with full integration of the academic department, basic science, translational research and NHS clinical service. The Department provides hepatology outpatient services in St Mary's, St Charles', Hammersmith, Charing Cross and Queen Charlotte's hospitals as well as outreach clinics into local Drug Treatment Services and offender healthcare settings. In addition to General Hepatology Clinics, members of the Department provide specialist clinics in NASH, liver oncology, HBV, HIV co-infection, antenatal care, paediatric hepatitis, decompensated cirrhosis, pre- and post liver transplant. Within the Department is a 4-bedded clinical day unit. There is a busy clinical trials team managing a wide-range of commercial and investigator-led studies. The department also manages 13 inpatient hepatology beds on the St Marys site admitting a wide range of patients. There is a very active, fully integrated, basic science research group with co-located laboratory facilities and successful candidates will be encouraged to continue, initiate or collaborate in the scientific research of the Department, as well as teaching. The postholder will be expected to further develop the care of patients with acute liver injury and decompensted cirrhosis. They will also be expected to facilaite the set up and running of a MSc course in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, based at Imperial College London.
