Job Description
Camden & Islington mental health and social care trust are seeking to appoint a bright and enthusiastic clinician to this fixed term locum Consultant post in a very well established Crisis resolution and home treatment team. This exciting opportunity has arisen as the incumbent consultant has been redeployed to a clinical management role. It is available for one year in the first instance. (If the incumbent's deployment becomes permanent then there is also the possibility that this post will later be converted to a substantive post, either as a part-time post or combined with other sessions to create a full-time post.) The post is based at Highgate mental health centre, Dartmouth Park Hill, London N19 5NX . The position is available for an immediate start or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is subject to the annual job-planning and appraisal process as agreed under the NHS Consultant contract. Inner London weighting supplement applies. The post-holder will be complemented by middle-grade medical input (two full-time specialty grade psychiatrists) and the postholder will be clinical lead for the team, working together with another part-time Consultant Psychiatrist. There is secretarial cover with shared office/administration facilities provided within the team office base. They will be supported in pursuing appropriate continuing professional development. The Trust became a Foundation Trust in February 2008 and continues as a mental health/social care organisation. It has well established links with the United Royal Free and University college London medical schools and the North London Junior and higher Psychiatric training schemes. Camden and Islington are exciting multicultural inner-city boroughs just on the edge of the City of London and Highgate mental health centre is based close to the varied shops, cafes and cultural amenities in the Highgate area as well as Archway. The Trust is a small and friendly organisation and mentoring is potentially available for first time Consultants. Applicants are expected to have MRCPsych or equivalent and substantial approved training experience in psychiatry , ideally up to CCT level, fulfilling criteria for the Consultant contract .Full GMC registration and a current GMC license to practise are essential.
