Job Description

This role will be responsible for supporting the implementation of Internal Control framework in line with Citi Global and Regional requirements across EMEA Finance disciplines. The position involves interaction with senior stakeholders (EMEA CFO and his delegates) and working closely with their teams. The role also involves driving EMEA Regional Controls Initiatives, in addition to support on key internal controls are designed, implemented, assessed and monitored for material risks with clear management accounatabilities. **Function background/context:** The EMEA Control Initiative & Governance (CIG) Team is part of the Controllers organization with reporting lines to EMEA Regional Controller. The EMEA CIG team support all streams of Finance: Legal Entity Management; Regulatory Reporting (across 54 countries in EMEA), Citi Solution Centre (CSC), Accounting Policy, Planning & Analysis, Treasury and Tax, and operates through three key strategic locations London, Budapest and Dubai. The resources within the team are subject matter specialists who are dedicated towards design, monitoring and governance of the control framework across EMEA Finance. The teams' responsibility encompasses providing oversight and support, ensuring consistent governance and control frameworks are applied across the EMEA region. **Responsibilities:** **Control Design & Monitoring** + Being part of second line responsible for control activities to ensure verification and challenge on a regular basis. + Responsible for providing oversight and support, ensuring consistent governance and control frameworks are applied, and operate effectively across the individual Finance disciplines within EMEA. + Deliver adequate and timely reporting on control framework and deficiencies in line with requirements to ensure appropriate escalation and adequate action plans. + Document and ensure internal control documentation/policy is understood, and is in practice by individual Finance disciplines and control functions + Representing Regional Control team on various committees and forums. **Managers Control Assessment (MCA)/Operational Risk Management (ORM) Initiatives** + Responsible for independently running Quarterly Management Controls Assessment (MCA) challenge sessions for the region and contribute in the Annual Risk Assessment process across the EMEA Finance. + Coordinating the required quarterly and annual MCA/GRC responsibilities for EMEA Finance Controllers so as to ensure accurate documentation is completed and included within GRC and meeting quarterly deadlines. + Identify and escalate control issues and non-compliance with Citi policies, procedures, and regulations that impact Finance **Governance** + Ensure appropriate level of communication is maintained on Internal Control matters to support the framework and ensure appropriate ownership and accountabilities from teams and managers. + Work with EMEA senior leadership on strategic planning, establishing guidelines, implementing controls, and executing strategic plans + Develop adequate training material on the internal control objectives, approach and methodology. + Ensure internal control deliverables are consistent within and at the required level of quality. + Drive and encourage teams across the region by effective monitoring to achieve required On Time Remediation (OTR), IBAM and IA results. + Provide input in design, support develop and calibrate robust Key Performance Indicators (KPI) allowing EMEA Finance senior required visibility and transparency on the control environment across EMEA Finance. **Partner/ Develop our people** + Provide managers and individual finance discipline teams with the relevant control methodological support. + Develops strong stakeholder relationships to establish robust ongoing dialogue and ensure good understanding of the functional areas. + Confident while discussing and presenting issues to; and collaborate with Cluster Control Leads or Country Controllers business/function to formulate sustainable solutions. + Possesses strong project management and interpersonal skills, makes sound decisions, exhibiting initiative and intuitive thinking. Maintain a transparent and trustworthy relationship with Regional and Cluster Control teams **Qualifications and Competencies:** + Qualified Accountant (preferred). + University/College degree, specialized in Accounting/Finance/Economics + 6 to 10 years of audit or risk management experience with emphasis on operational risks and internal controls; ideally in insurance, banking or asset management; or business experience in insurance with audit or control background. + In-depth knowledge of control framework for banks or financial services environment (internal control, audit, operational risk, etc.). + Ability to interact with senior management and multiple stakeholders, including regulators, if required. + Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills. + Leadership ability in a team-oriented and colla
