Job Description
We seek to appoint a Research Associate in Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the brain. The post is available for an immediate start for a period of 27 months, with the potential to extend by a further 6 months. This position is suitable for a talented imaging scientist with a strong grounding in MRI physics and/or MR data analysis. The new post is funded by the EPSRC as part of a multidisciplinary collaboration between the Universities of Manchester, London, Leeds, Cardiff and Lancaster. The project aims to better, and more efficiently, measure blood-brain barrier dysfunction with clinical application to understand how this is altered in cerebrovascular disease. Novel approaches to measure water exchange across the blood-brain barrier will be developed, using pre-clinical imaging to validate the measurements and clinical imaging in a small cohort of stroke patients to determine sensitivity. Experience of MRI protocol optimisation, implementation and data acquisition, a good honours degree with a high numerical content and a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline are essential.
