Your new company Launched in January 2019, the Money and Pensions Service brings together the free services delivered by the Money Advice Service, The Pensions Advisory Service and Pension Wise. We are an Arms-Length organisation, sponsored by the Department for Work and Pensions, with a joint commitment to ensuring that people have access and guidance to the information they need to make effective financial decisions over their lifetime. We will be working collaboratively with our key stakeholders to ensure that all UK citizens can easily access the information they need to make the most of their money and pensions throughout their lives. This is an exciting vision that we want to get right. We have used 2019 to understand what our customers and stakeholders need from the new organisation. Based on this, we will be beginning to test innovating ways of improving information and guidance across all channels so we can develop new integrated customer services and journeys that are both efficient and effective. Your new role Your role as Research Data Analyst will be to analyse and interpret population wide data from various sources to input into strategic decision and policy making; to provide the organisation with statistical analysis and data modelling using a wide variety of tools and techniques and both internal and external datasets and to interpret and communicate complex data in a meaningful and comprehensible way for both internal and external stakeholders. Some key accountabilities of the role include: * Analysing and interpreting population wide survey data from various sources (e.g. (e.g. the MaPS Adult or CYP Financial Capability Surveys, the MaPS Need survey as well as external datasets such as Financial Lives, Wealth & Assets Survey, Understanding Society etc) to input into strategic decision and policy making * Being expert in statistical and data-modelling techniques * Providing analytic input to strategic decision and policy making * Working well with internal and external stakeholders * Pro-actively contributing to projects and initiatives across the organisation * Working in a cross functional capacity with other analysts across the organisation * Supporting the team with ad-hoc research / data related requests What you'll need to succeed In order to be successful on application, it is expected that you will possess the following skills/experience: * Good knowledge of market research techniques and understanding of the implications of survey data * A deep knowledge of statistical and data-modelling tools and techniques * Experience of working with large social research-@type datasets * Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills * Ability to work with ambiguous, uncertain or incomplete data. * Experience writing up technical analysis into policy-relevant outputs and reports for a non-technical audience * Experience of working at pace in a responsive way, able to respond swiftly and responsively to provide data analysis to support the organisation * Excellent planning and organisational skills * A degree with a significant research methods component, or relevant qualifications in mathematics, statistics, and/or relevant experience in research and data analysis * Proven experience in SPSS, Stata, R, Python Microsoft Office and other analytical tools What you'll get in return In return you will be placed onto a permanent contract paying circa £47,500 per annum.
