Profile of the role: Gyroscope Therapeutics is seeking a highly skilled and motivated scientist to join our growing Research group. The successful applicant will join the Vectorology Team which focuses on viral vector engineering to advance gene therapy programs. The successful candidate will work as part of an internal function within the Vectorology Team and will be responsible for supporting the development and characterisation of viral vectors for a variety of research and pre-clinical applications. The role requires extensive knowledge and experience in AAV biology, molecular biology, cell culture and AAV vector production techniques. Specifically, you are expected to work with the CMC Team to establish vector production capability within the Research Group. The successful candidate will independently design, perform and analyse experiments for multiple projects, and will work closely with other team members and external collaborators to support different portfolio of AAV gene therapy-based programs Responsibilities: * Work closely with CMC to establish viral vector production capability within the Research Group * Production and purification of AAV vectors and including quantification of viral particles to support pre-clinical studies * Perform cell-based and biochemical assays to characterise AAV gene therapy vectors and quantitate expression of the transgene product * Independently design and execute experiments following laboratory procedures and produce accurate and reproducible results to a high technical standard * Appropriately analyse data to provide an interpretation of results, and to present the data both internally and externally * Interact and support research activities both within the Vectorology Team and across all functional groups to effectively deliver pipeline projects Skills and Requirements: * Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, Virology or other relevant scientific discipline * Solid experience is required either in a fast-paced academic lab or biotech (preferred) * Direct experience and in-depth knowledge of AAV vectors for gene therapy is essential * Experience in AAV production, purification, titration, transduction and viral potency assays * Demonstrated skills and hands-on experience in molecular biology, including standard recombinant DNA technology, analyses with qPCR, recombinant protein expression and assessments with SDS-PAGE, Western blot, ELISA and flow cytometry * Proficiency in tissue culture techniques and handling of mammalian cell lines * Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team * Strong organisational ability to plan and prioritise work to meet deadlines * Ability to document and maintain an organised account of lab work and results * Excellent interpersonal communication and written skills for presentations, report writing and day-to-day project team communications * Be proficient with MS office, Prism, SnapGene and other commonly used software Desirable Skills: * Background in ophthalmology and immunology research * Experience in working on in vivo experiments * Experience in histology and immunolabelling (IHC, IFF, ICC) Come and join our journey No Agency CV's - Thank You Apply for this Job
