Our large multidisciplinary occupational health and wellbeing service would like to welcome a new full-time Consultant Occupational Physician to the team. This is a permanent position based at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). ABOUT THE TEAM Having won national awards for service innovation and quality improvement, our team has a strong reputation. We have recently been named as Employee Wellbeing and Retention Employer of the year 2019 (Our Health Heroes Awards, sponsored by Skills for health and supported by NHS England, NHS Employers and Health Education England). This is a SEQOHS accredited service. Our current team includes 2 Consultant Occupational Physicians, a Nurse Manager, a Speciality Trainee and 16 OH and staff Nurses. Our work is diverse as we provide a full range of OH services to 11,500 Trust employees, 4,500 University employees, 4,000 healthcare students and a number of local employers through income-generating contracts. In addition to our clinical work, we are champions for education and research in occupational medicine. We have a strong alliance with the MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Unit and are a collaborating partner in the ARUK/MRC national centre for musculoskeletal health and work. WHAT YOU'LL DO We're planning for the future and looking to bring someone on board who will work towards taking on clinical leadership of Occupational Health in the not-too-distant future. You will work with our current Clinical Lead, who is well known within the field, to implement our OH strategy and respond to new developments. We actively encourage involvement of our clinicians in the national OH agenda and you will have responsibilities for teaching. You will as also act as clinical supervisor to our Speciality Trainee. Your day-to-day will be varied as you will be involved in all aspects of clinical work. This will include pre-employment and fitness for work assessments, advice on immunisations and risk assessments, our award-winning rehabilitation service (Return2Health), ill health retirement and complex cases. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR You'll need to have a CCT in occupational medicine or be on the GMC's Specialist Register. Alternatively, we will also consider candidates who are within six months of obtaining their CCT on the date of the AAC. We are also willing to discuss a degree of flexibility about location. Therefore, we would actively encourage applicants who wish to work part-time, or for whom geography might be a barrier. A relocation package would be available for the successful candidate if required. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Individuals wishing to apply must be fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and should be either already on or within 6 months of eligibility to be included on the specialist register of the GMC.
