Job Description

Senior Software Developer / Berkshire / 35,000 - 45,000 / Free on-site Parking / Microsoft Gold Partner /Central Location Hello technology enthusiasts! My Berkshire based client who carry Gold Partner status delivery software solutions into hundreds of customers primarily around the healthcare sector. Due to 25 years in the business they have a catalogue of clients that they have been working with for many years, however with new ones coming on board all the time they need to make sure they have the workforce in place who can deliver. This is why they have reached out once again and given me the task of finding their next Senior Software Developer to support their migration into being fully cloud focused. So what are they doing and why hire now? They want to hire now as their 2020 goal is to be totally "cloud and proud" with Azure being the platform of choice. As it's a small team to begin the migration to Azure they want their next hire to join so that they can be a part of the whole journey. The benefit here being you will eventually work in a fully cloud orientated environment which inevitably is the way the world is going. What does the team look like and your role ? To be completely transparent this is a fairly small team of 12 with just 3 being involved with the development side of things so there is no hiding behind anyone else's work here. You need to know your trade and be able to bring you're "A-Game" to the table. This benefits you as it means your voice is certainly heard and not lost in a larger team. To keep their reputation on a pedestal evaluation of technology is key so you will work collaboratively with your CTO and Technical Lead to ensure that you don't fall behind the competition. Not many senior development opportunities offer the chance to liaise with a Tech Lead so this role really does offer an alternative day to day. One that will add more value to your profile than perhaps others. Your seniors are there to learn from and can be used as a tool to refine your niche. That said it's not the only way you can learn - specific funding will be yours for the taking. This can be in the form of any training material such as certifications, courses, tech talk or meet ups. The working environment is chilled out as they understand the clogs don't turn well in a highly strung environment when you have someone luring over your shoulder. They let you do your thing and there is no room for micromanagement. . Your day to day will involve some occasional pre-sales support to the commercial team and director's to identify fresh potential functionality that can be included in the product roadmap. This offers the chance to get out there and meet your clients (travelled expenses paid for) and even provide mentoring for your clients developers to ensure they are giving the product the right execution. What do you need to bring to the table? A solid 3 years commercial experience in Full stack Development using the Microsoft technologies and in particular development of commercial products, and therefore the ability to articulate specific challenges of products vs bespoke development. To be totally transparent 80 - 90 % of the coding is currently written in vb.net so this is essential that you are fluent in this. However as mentioned above cloud is the way forward and updating ALL of the coding will be in the pipeline once you settle in. Azure Cloud Experience / Microsoft .NET Framework / VB.NET / C#.NET / ASP.NET / JavaScript / HTML / CSS / SQL Server Bonus points for : MS Azure PaaS Technologies (Data Factory, Azure Application Platform, SQL Managed Instance, Containers) / Source Control technologies / Hyper-V & development / Build Processes and CI/CD / NUnit What do you get in return? Aside from working for a Gold Partner with a boss that truly appreciates your efforts you can get; Company Pension 4% / Private medical and medical cash plan / Death in service / 25 days annual leave plus 8 days bank holiday / Free parking on site / 37.hour week / Next Steps? If this role is for you - GREAT !
